James R. Browne Jr.

A fourth generation attorney from central Indiana, Jim Browne earned his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1991 then graduated from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 1994. During law school, Jim served as an intern with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and clerked for a private practice in the area of family law.

Prior to joining Goodin | Abernathy LLP in 1999, Jim was a major felony deputy prosecutor in Indianapolis. His bar admissions include the Indiana Supreme Court, United States District Court, Northern District of Indiana, the United States District Court, Southern District of Indiana and the Seventh Circuit United States Court of Appeals. He is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association having graduated from its Bar Leader Series program and acting as the 2007 chairperson for the Series.  Through the Indianapolis Bar Association, Jim worked with the local food bank Second Helpings and has devoted considerable time supporting the local community with pro bono legal work.  Jim also actively supports the local Hispanic public service organization, La Plaza. 

Jim’s legal practice concentrates on the area of civil litigation but he is proficient in criminal law. He has considerable jury trial and courtroom experience in both civil and criminal law.  He is accomplished in the areas of personal injury, business litigation, insurance coverage issues, worker’s compensation and construction law.  In addition, Jim works in the area of skilled nursing facility and healthcare transaction. Jim is proficient in speaking Spanish and works regularly with Hispanic clients and businesses.  He currently hosts a legal segment (“Legalmente Hablando”) on the local Spanish T.V. channel (Univision) that provides viewers with basic legal advice. Jim, his wife, and three children live in Broad Ripple.
